GPS Locator & iFlashlight Pro {Optimizations}

The winter holidays, I started working again on some of my iPhone apps. To be more specific I made some improvements on the iFlashlight Pro app, which made it a little bit faster. The backside LED opens faster.

As for GPS Locator, I made some improvements on the code, which won't make any notable improvements on the performance of the app. They primary concern me, the main and only programmer of my apps, which made the code more reusable and easier to maintain.

I intend to make improvements on the speed and the battery consumption of GPS Locator, however this won't happen until the end of March (of 2012 of course), since my schedule is already full.

  1. Hi,

I really enjoy GPS Locator. Is it somehow possible to export the GPS Data of a recorded route? At the moment it only seems to be possible to export one GPS Location by emailing it. However, I would like to export at least specific coordinates of a recored route. I can select some red dots of the route but there is no option to somehow show me the coordinates of these dots.

    Best regards

    Johannes

  2. How do I take the GPS location data in my individual emails and put them all on the same Google map? We want to mark all the glacial boulders on our property.

  3. Hello js,

currently you cannot collect any data from the device, but the next version will contain two ways to take the data out of the device.

I'm really sorry for the inconvenience, and for the delay on the reply.

    Regards!

  4. Hello Jol1naras,

thank you for your answer. It would be great to have backward compatibility, i.e. that it will be possible to export data recorded with an older version of the app. I did record some important tracks and it would be just awesome if it will be possible to export these in an updated version. Thank you and keep up your good work. Best wishes

  5. Could you please fix iFlashlight Pro (or at least return it to the prior version that worked without immediately crashing)? I really liked the app until it stopped working with version 1.2.4. Now after opening it, the light flashes briefly and then the app immediately crashes. :-(

    1. I just fixed the issue with iFlashlight. I suppose you are using a version older than 6.0, that's why you get this error.

The new version of Google Ads is supported only for iOS6.0 and above. That's what makes your app crash. I already working on this, and you will get the final update within a couple of weeks maximum, since the application has to pass through Apple's review process.

  6. I tried the GPS app on my iPhone 5; what a disappointment! The coordinates were off by more than one-half mile and I can't seem to get it to take a second reading. Sitting at my desk, it's showing a speed of 0.9 mph. I find no support, no place to email the developer, ask questions or get help.

    1. I am terribly sorry for your result, but you must take into account, that GPS on the iPhone works over cellular or WiFi, which means that you need better signal in order to get accurate results. Also, if you are on the outside then you will get better results. Walls from cement of metal can reduce the accuracy of your location. GPS can't really work on the inside so well.

As for the second reading you mentioned, you don't have to make it give you a second reading, as soon as you change location, approximately more than 8 meters, which is the threshold for GPS. Grad your device, go outside open the app, wait a little bit, because GPS needs warm up and it takes maximum 2 minutes (for the iPhone) and then start walking. You will notice that you get constant readings for the GPS.
